Harvesters helps those impacted by Hurricane Helene
Did you know? Harvesters stands ready to respond to natural disasters. Last week, we sent six truckloads of food and water to two food banks in Savannah and Augusta Georgia to help those impacted by Hurricane Helene.
Harvesters is a member food bank of Feeding America and because of our size and central location, we are a key disaster response partner to store and distribute disaster relief products including food, water, and cleaning supplies. We’ve responded to dozens of natural disasters both here in our region and across the country for two decades. In fiscal year 2024, Harvesters distributed more than 250,000 pounds of disaster food and supplies.
Even when other disaster organizations leave impacted communities after initial emergency needs are met, Feeding America, Harvesters, and the rest of the network of food banks stay. We provide resources and support so communities can rebuild.
